Critically ill patients in medical settings are in a state very close to the hypnotic state, so any comment may function as a powerful hypnotic suggestion. Various research results will be presented proving that appropriate communication - called Psychological Support Based on Positive Suggestions - can improve the medical care in various settings: intensive care, eye-surgery, orthopaedic surgery, obstetrics, etc. The effect of these techniques is reflected in various parameters (shorter hospital stay, better cooperation, less medication, reduced side effects etc.). Case vignettes will illustrate the importance of rapport, communicating in situations of emotional involvement, use of suggestive techniques in critical situations, applying simple metaphors, etc. keywords: suggestion effects, rapport, doctor-patient communication, trance state Vortrag in Englisch im Rahmen der M.E.G.-Jahrestagung "Resilienz stärken, Ressourcen aktivieren: Die transformative Kraft der Hypnose", 27...
The salivary oxytocin and cortisol changes in response to standardized laboratory hypnosis sessions were tested in both participants of the hypnosis dyad. With a within subjects design our study investigated the main effect of hypnosis on the endocrine variables and also the moderator effects of hypnotic susceptibility and relational experiences reposted by subjects and hypnotists on several paper and pencil tests (AIM, DIH, s-EMBU). Cortisol levels decreased both in subject and hypnotist from pre- to post hypnosis (t(11)= 7.67; p < .001; and t(11) = 2.51; p < .05 respectively. Our results indicated that changes in oxytocin levels are not related to the hypnotic susceptibility, but to the relational experiences. The perceived harmony with the hypnotist (DIH) was positively correlated with the increase in the salivary oxytocin concentration of the subject (r(9)= .61; p < ...
